Island hopping, across the Caribbean; not a bad way to spend a January.
Useful start, *4-1

Emily has another two rounds of strolling this week before she faces real competition, just as she had last week. Next up she either has a 14 yr old kid with not even a junior ranking or 30 yr old Maria Gomez, who retired against Emily in last week's first round when Emily was 6-1 2-0 up.

Heise and Kung are the top seeds again, and are dishing out bagels to qualifiers

Yes, attendance points to start with but hopefully Emily can then again show the really encouraging form of last week when the requirements presumably get much tougher.

As she did last week, this week Emily teams up with Caty. They next face half of the team that denied them last weeks title.

R16: Appleton/McNally (GBR/USA) [2] v. Bye
QF: Appleton/McNally (GBR/USA) [2] defeated Pulchartiva/Schmidt (CZE/USA) 6-3 6-2

SF: Appleton/McNally (GBR/USA) [2] v. McAdoo/Smith (USA/USA) [3]

Gosh, Lauren is a tiddler, born mid-2003. Doesn't play any junior events either. Amazing to think of her with a WTA point....

Just noticed that Caty is another very promising youngster. She's only 16 and current JWR:29 (JCH:21). Her singles rank is very similar to Emily's.

Caty McNally has been in the juniors threads quite a bit. Her brother, John, age 19 is top 1000, and ex JWR 13.

Their mum is a professional tennis coach and former WTA pro.

Gravouil is another youngster, but a little older at 19, former JWR 204, but a whole 4 years back now that was. Her CH is somewhat better than Emily's so could be a competititive match. She lost to Heise in a tight 3-setter in the QF last week (Emily then beat Heise in the SF).
