Boys & Girls: AGL Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International, Australia, hard - Grade 1 (Week 3)

Just to mention that Gemma and partner have had two wins in the doubles and are into the QFs.

(Ali C and partner won one but lost in R2)

In the boys, Aidan+ are also through to the QFs.

(George+ won one, lost one. Emile+ lost in R1).

Jack+ were in the first doubles draw released but then withdrew and were replaced.

Just to point out the Aidan got four A grades and a B in his Highers too - there's not much not to like about that boy !

Bet Andy will be smiling

And good luck to Aidan - he has lovely elegant tennis to watch, we need a few one-handers for kids to see it's possible and, as said, that boy's volleys are a dream.
Do so hope he gets to showcase his talent properly at Wimbledon this year. I'm definitely expecting/hoping for a Quali wildcard.

Lets get him some matches and wins in adult tennis first.

He's got an ATP ranking. I know it's not major wins but at least it's some.

But I agree - he's got to move over to adult tennis, and I imagine it's well on his agenda.

However, I do think he will be a perfect candidate for a quali wildcard.

Personally, I certainly wouldn't yet be expecting any Wimbledon qualifying WC for Aidan, af best a play-offs WC if his ranking needs one. But be great if he can switch much more over to seniors and start to pick up quite a few more senior scalps and make it much more of a decision to be made,

I think there should be a rule that our best youngster (ATP and JWR factored together) gets a wildcard to the qualis. Of course, it might not be Aidan this year. (Which is also partly why I'd like a bit of discretion but the British system dislikes that, because the 'discretion' always goes in favour of the in-crowd, so I guess you'd have to stick to a formula).

Particularly impressive as this is effectively the strongest non Grand Slam grade event of the year, with all the top 16 ranked boys here. In the final Aidan plays the recent Orange Bowl winner

SF

Aidan McHugh d. (2) Marko Miladinovic (SRB) 4-6 6-4 6-2

F

(5) Hugo Gaston (FRA) v Aidan McHugh

Gaston is one of the French in-crowd, on their fave list, currently (I believe) receiving about EUR 25-30k a year from the Federation.
