Boys & Girls: ITF Paradis, Norway, hard - Grade 5 (Week 49)

The final ITF Junior event of the year to start is in Norway, with Matilda Mutavdzic given a wildcard after reaching the final last week. She faces strong competition, not least from the arrival of Esther Adeshina and Erin Richardson, as well as the Danish top seed, who has already won a G3 and reached the final of a G2 recently

Toby Samuel d. (WC) Ludvig Danielsson (SWE) 6-1 6-1

R2

Toby Samuel v (3) Herman Hoeyeraal (NOR)

Girls R1 (L32)

(WC) Lena Mari Bolkejo Hovda (NOR) v Elisa Van Meeteren

(4) Erin Richardson v Karina Jensrud (NOR)

(WC) Matilda Mutavdzic v (LL) Dania Monakhova (RUS)

Elinor Storkaas (NOR) v Aleksandra Topalovic

3/4 through so far in the girls event. Aleksandra goes on to play last week's winner. Although it is a G5 the strength of the top 4 seeds make it stronger than many G4s

Girls R1 (L32)

(WC) Lena Mari Bolkejo Hovda (NOR) d. Elisa Van Meeteren 7-6(5) 2-6 6-2
(4) Erin Richardson d. Karina Jensrud (NOR) 6-0 6-3
(WC) Matilda Mutavdzic d. (LL) Dania Monakhova (RUS) 6-2 6-3
Aleksandra Topalovic d. Elinor Storkaas (NOR) 6-2 6-2
(Q) Maja Radenkovic (SWE) v (2) Esther Adeshina

R2

(4) Erin Richardson v (Q) Irina Dshandshgava (AUT)
(WC) Matilda Mutavdzic v Olivia Gram (DEN) or (7) Emilie Elde (NOR)
Aleksandra Topalovic v (3) Caijsa Wilda Hennemann (SWE)

"Although it is a G5 the strength of the top 4 seeds make it stronger than many G4s"

Lack of choice - Erin and Esther should really be playing higher grade, Matilda possibly as well, but I don't see too many options around this week.

Well, they have the choice to not play anything at all this week. It's hardly like its half term week or something - you wouldn't expect many places to lay on competitions now.

Very nice win for young Toby Samuel against the 3rd seed, 7-5, in the third - bet that felt good !

And wins for Rahul, Erin and Matilda (over the 7th seed) too. Other results not up yet.

I see both are down for the series in India at the start of January, which is a more suitable grade for these 2.

Chance of two more titles, with Esther and Erin having lost no more than 3 games in any match so far (and yes Gustafsson is not the Swede in the opposition partnership)
