Boys & Girls: Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship , USA, clay - Grade A (Week 49)

Michalski levels up by taking the second set 6-4.

George headlined the ITF round-up of yesterday's matches - www.itftennis.com/news/277530.aspx

Just to mention that joanna Garland is also through to the QFs and very close to going through to the semis.

Joanna is the half-British girl, who plays for Taipei, who played some British Tour events a year or two ago (played Harriet Dart in the final at Paddington in 2016), and used to play for Hetfordshire. She's now at one of the Dutch academies, I think.

Just read this...

Much of the buzz centers on London's 16-yr-old George Loffagen who so dominated No 2 seed Uisung Park that the S Korean quit at 6-1, 4-0 down. No hint of injury. One coach described Loffhagen as best tennis athlete he had seen since @DjokerNole . #orangebowltennis

Nice to read and Georges performances obviously justify some positive feedback but still very early days, I think its really important that these 4 guys play plenty of adult tennis over the next year, it is so important that there is a clear understanding of the long term goal. Playing on the British and Futures tours exposes them to experience and keeps hype in perspective. Barnstaple qualifying for outstanding 15/16 years old is medicine for the soul of an aspiring ATP tour pro.

The girls singles title was won by the top seed and JWR 1, Whitney Osuigwe (USA), winner also of the previous week's Eddie Herr and this year's French Open Juniors.

Whitney is just 15 (04/02) and the JWR 2 as of the 04/12 rankings is the slightly younger Marta Kostyuk (UKR) (06/02), winner of the Aussie Open Juniors at the beginning of the year but not without a tight 3 setter against Jodie Burrage along the way.

The boys singles winner was 17 yo 11th seed Hugo Gaston (FRA).
