QR1: Anna SMITH (GBR) UNR v. Olivia TJANDRAMULIA (AUS) 399 (CH 361, 10/'16)
A first singles match in just over 3 years (Notts. $75K, Jun. 2014).
Atawo, Spears, Dekmaijere, BMS, Dekmeijere etc. all played the odd singles qualifying round when the opportunity presented. Why not?

Anna is the player there with the better singles CH, that being WR 262 from 09/08/10, just a few days short of her 22nd birthday.

Incidentally that's almost precisely the same CH as Katy Dunne has from almost precisely the same age. Katy's CH 265 is from 27/02/17, less than two weeks after her 22nd birthday.

Anna was then to suffer her almost 2 years out from November 2010 and although she did get back into the top 500 never got near where she was before. But she has certainly done not bad at all away from singles.

An interesting little adventure ...

I wonder what happened to Emily W-S as she was number 6 on the alternates list three days ago. There were four Byes and several unranked players got in to there can't have been any shortage of places.

Em is playing the doubles final in Landisville today.

ITFs won't hold your first round qualy match over for a day if you are still in doubles action, unlike the WTA who will often carry a match over from Saturday to Sunday to let someone at doubles on Saturday then travel to the tournament.

Real mixture of overall nationalities and most noticeably within pairs in the full 16 pairs doubles draw.

As well as the 4 Brits going with other nationals so are the 8 Americans and the 4 Canadians ( although there are 3 American / Canadians pairs ).

The only two same nationality partnerships are the #1 seeds, Hozumi & Kato, and the #4 seeds, Adamzcak & Saunders  ( OK, let's instead go for #3 seeds, Adamczak & Sanders ).

Oops. Or rather the #3 seeds Adamzcak and Saunders as per later in my earlier draw post you quote from. Moore and Rae are indeed the #4 seeds.
