Maia is into the finals of the doubles

Looked tricky during the first set, but all came good. Ten breaks of serve in the match ! 7-6(10) 6-1

In a rollercoaster match, Maia has just won 3 games in a row to go *5-4 up against the top seed. There have only been 2 holds of serve so far in the match. Hopefully, Maia can make that 3 and take the set.

Maia gets to 40-0* but breaks to 30 and will serve for the set again. *6-5

And Maia is showing as a hold up in the second set, having held in the first game before breaks each way.

According to ITF live score stats she managed to win the first set with a 21% success rate on first serve (5/24). That lost out to the whopping 22% (6/27) of her opponent.

Now, these live scores have been known to mix up the server and returner ...

Err, two further 'breaks' either way. For 3-2*.

Yep, I would suggest that Maia is not a hold up but in fact a break up and it is really *3-2.

That hold could turn out to be crucial.

Does look rather odd, doesn't it !

The doubles final is later today, and for once all four players are on court in the singles at the same time, although one has just lost

Two more breaks for 4-3* or two more holds for *4-3.

OK, I am not even tentatively suggesting that the ITF have ****ed up. Maia is a break up !

I think Maia has broken again and is serving for the match at *5-4 ( that or in the last two games they've learnt how to serve )

But as per ITF, 5-4*

If the ITF had the wrong player down as server all the time that would explain the peculiar stats and lack of holds. Still, at least Maia comes away with a win whatever the means of doing it.

Oh she 'breaks' for the match. Quelle surprise !

All that nonsense aside, that's a very good win. Well done, Maia
