Week 33 - ITF ($15K) - Mragowo, Poland Clay

Assuming anyway that the ITF scoreboard at least has the right winner ...

QF: (7) Maia Lumsden WR 656 beat (1) Jacqueline Cabaj Awad (SWE) WR 484 (CH 462 in October 2015) 7-6(6) 6-4

Very well done Maia!
She plays the Netherlands born French lady next, Jade Suvrijn [4] 562 (is this the one that CD really doesn't rate?)

Last time Maia reached a SF, she won the title; just saying

Edit: They'll get a taste of each others games later today, as they face off in the doubles final.

I think that the one I really don't rate too much, that's been mentioned here, is Harmony Tan. (Although, as a caveat, she has made progress and still is pretty young)

But, yes, I also don't rate Jade too highly, and certainly don't think that she's going to be top-200, say, any time soon.

I've known her since she was a young teenager and she was (and still is, I believe) a very solid, very fit, hard to beat, good clay courter. I think it will be a tough match for the two of them but Maia seems to be more on an upward curve.

Ah! Harmony Tan, yes, thank you.

Well, Jade got the better of the match up today, let's hope Maia get's the score settled in the singles.

3-3 in the third.

Knew it would be close. Just hope Maia can get her nose over the line first....

SF: LUMSDEN, Maia (GBR) 7 656 lost to SUVRIJN, Jade (FRA) 4 562 5-7 6-0 4-6

One of those odd matches where the player who won the most points and most games ended up losing.

Bah. Still the 4 points from this week will push Maia up to a further CH on Monday week, probably in the 630s. Will move ahead of Suzy L and back ahead of Jodie B to GB #16.
