Other events - week 34

There are a number of lower ranked ITF junior events with British interest this week. (Cyprus and Latvia have their own threads)

In Sweden, it's Sweden 2 - GB 1 :

Sweden G5:

R1 Boys:

Hugo REGNER (SWE)     6-0 6-2    (LL) Lewis HALL (GBR)

Rahul DHOKIA (GBR) [5]     6-4 7-5     Oskar JONSSON (SWE)

Oliver ANDERSSON (SWE)     6-3 7-6(3)     Oliver MAYO (GBR) [8]

In India, G4, two got through qualis but no further:

Boys R1: Dhakshineswar SURESH (IND)     6-1 7-6(5)   (q)  Sahej MAKER (GBR)

Girls R1:  Lasya PATNAIK (IND)     7-6(1) 6-2    (q) Monica RAVIRAJ (GBR)

Aleksandra Topalovic is in Macedonia; Freddie Grant and Isabel Oxley are in Mauritius. Kelly Araujo is playing in Argentina.

Oliver Okonkwo has won two Q matches in Moldova and is in the FQR (Ying Hou lost in QR2)

And there may well be others....

In Macedonia, G5, Aleksandra beat a seed, two years older:

R2 (L32): Aleksandra TOPALOVIC (GBR) (born 2000, WR 1640) def. Maria Alexandra GIURA (ROU) [16] (born 1998, WR 1194) 6-3 6-2

In Sweden, G5, it was a washout:

Quarterfinal singles:

Masi SARPOLA (FIN) [4] 6-3 6-1 Rahul DHOKIA (GBR) [5]

Quarterfinal doubles:

Oliver ANDERSSON (SWE) / Nikola SLAVIC (SWE) 6-2 4-6 [10-7] Rahul DHOKIA (GBR) / Oliver MAYO (GBR) [3]

Better news in Moldova, G5:

R1 (L32) : Oliver OKONKWO (GBR) 6-0 6-0 Nichita SPRINCI (MDA)

R1 doubles (L16) : Oliver OKONKWO (GBR) / Kyle STOCKER (GBR) 7-6(7) 6-2 Denis PARSHUTIN (UKR) / Alexander VISHNEVSKIY (RUS) [4]

This is Oliver's first tournament (that I can see) and first points so congrats to him.

Very nice win for Freddie, too, in Mauritius, G4, against the 5th seed:

2nd Round (L16)

Freddie GRANT (GBR) (born 1999, JWR 1047) def. Amaury DE BEER (MRI) [5] (born 1999, JWR 550) 7-6(5) 6-3

Also into the semis in the dubs:

Quarterfinal

Freddie GRANT (GBR) / Kenzo KOISTILA LARSSON (SWE) [4] 6-4 6-0 Pak Hong Issac CHAN (HKG) / Chun Ho CHOW (HKG)

Freddie going great guns in Mauritius, G4, (albeit with a touch of good fortune) - he's beaten the top seeds in both the singles and doubles today ! :

In Moldova, G5, Oliver O lost to the top seed, but in three sets : great effort. No luck for Kyle either:

2nd Round (L16)

Filip Cristian JIANU (ROU) [1] def. Oliver OKONKWO (GBR) 3-6 6-1 6-2

Alexandr VITCOV (MDA)     6-7(4) 6-1 6-2     Kyle STOCKER (GBR)

In Macedonia:

R3 (L16): Aisha KUKUSHKINA (RUS)     6-2 6-3     Aleksandra TOPALOVIC (GBR)

No news yet for the singles but the local newpaper website reports that Freddie and partner actually won the doubles title, not the other way round as above on ITF site (and report a slightly different score):

www.lemauricien.com/article/tennis-i-itf-u18-petit-camp-open-grade-4-amelie-boy-entre-au-palmares-du-simple-dames

"Le titre du double hommes est revenu au tandem Freddie Grant (GB)-Kenzo Koistila Larsson (Sue)."

"Finale double hommes
Freddie Grant (GB)-Kenzo Koistila Larsson (Suč) 4 bb. Denton Ho (HK)-Matthew Johnson 2 (Af. Sud) 6-3, 6-2"

So we'll wait and see.....
