 The same reason they do it in athletics. 

An aid for the spectators and a reminder to athletes as they can be so "in the zone" they lose track of where they are.

Just so happy for Justin Rose. He embraced the Olympics when so many other golfers couldn't be bothered. It was a stated goal for him and he has taken the gold medal. Brilliant stuff.

 I think with the Golf gold and now the 2nd gymnastics gold in the last few moments, I think we are now ahead of China (equal on gold but more silver) - unless they have sneaked a gold somewhere.

14 golds does include Jason Kenny's gold. There is though also a guaranteed gold to come for Giles Scott in the Finn Class sailing, well evidently as long as he sails the final race.

I think that China will come back past us in the latter few days once rowing, cycling and sailing are over, but it's still looking like being a great overall performance.

Oh yes. Horsey dancing strikes again. Big congrats to Charlotte Dujardin and of course Valegro, on yet another gold medal performance.

and Nile and Amy get bronzes in gymnastics for individual apparatus - previously almost unheard of for Brits.
