Very surprise Joe Salisbury got turned over - that was a great chance to pick up decent points. Good win for Gabb.

This has a Authom v Grigelis final written all over it unless Cox/Milton are back to their very best.

So that is what has prompted his tweet about the LTA and the number of talented 19-22 year olds retiring. Harry, in particular, made such progress when Josh was coaching him and then couldn't maintain the momentum when Josh landed his teaching job. He, of course, is one of those retirees that Josh is no doubt referring to.

Jonny lost 1 & 1

Mark Whitehouse was expecting to back in lectures today or tomorrow (via Jonathan Artman on Twitter) at Imperial College but has just beaten Jack 3 & 1! 0 to 8 points in a few days, though he has been ranked (with a single point) before.

A very topsy-turvy last QF - Dan went a set and a break up only to lose the next *9* games to go a double break down in the decider ... then he won the next 4 games and Josh has just held for 4-4 in the 3rd

The doubles final will be Scott and Toby v Bambo and JWH(if they can hang on - a set and a break up against Joe and Dave)

Can't say I'm surprised at this, George hasn't looked like his heart was in it most of this year.  However,  I always feel a bit sad at such a decision because I know the hours and effort every player puts in from a young age.  Not sure I would call it an LTA failure, rather I suspect, despite his good junior record, that George just didn't have what it takes to move out of the lower levels of the professional game.  Five years In futures with broadly the same results isn't going to cut it.  Rather it highlights the folly of a policy of putting so many resources into a few juniors - just no way of knowing who will come through as an adult and, like with George, there's bound to be a percentage who don't move on well from the junior game.

Au contraire mon ami.  Joe and Dave turned their match around to win in an MTB.  So it is they who will play Scott and Toby in the final.
