Week 30 - Challenger ($50,000) - Lexington, KY, USA (Hard)

Evans, Ward, Cox and Smethurst should all be in the main draw here.

QR1: Richard Gabb WR 484 v (q5) Sanam Singh (IND) WR 373

Rotten draw - especially given the need to get there from Granby at speed.

Main draw is out.

L32: (4) Dan Evans WR 145 v Vincent Millot (FRA) WR 195 (CH 147 Feb 2011)
L32: (5) James Ward WR 152 v (WC) Jared Donaldson (USA) WR 343 (=CH)
L32: Dan Cox WR 231 v (3) Yuichi Sugita (JPN) WR 142 (CH 116 Nov 2012)
L32: Dan Smethurst WR 239 v (WC) Thanasi Kokkinakis (AUS) WR 298 (CH 297 July 2014)

Could have been a lot worse. Tough one for Dan C though.

THREE Dans, all in the one event - it's getting ridiculous ! :)

Evans and Ward should eat their opponent for breakfast.

Smethurst will have to look out - love young Kokkinakis.

Cox will at least get a match and chance to play.

As you say, could be a lot worse . . .

Tough for Dan C and Dan E.

Hoping James can have a good run here and defend some of those points. I wonder if horses for courses applies to tennis??

If Donaldson plays like he did against Dan C in the first set of their match it could be tough for Wardy.

I'd say tough draws for Dan C and Dan S, certainly. With Mr Ward, it all depends which Mr Ward turns up. The fine Mr Ward should indeed beat Mr Donaldson handily. The Mr Ward who sometimes shows up in his place could find things more challenging.

Those are all draws that could really go either way. Not sure I could confidently call any of them.

I'm with you, TMH. I can see any of them being lost, but also any of them being won, including Dan C's, the way he has been playing.

I'd take 3 GB winners now.

And Richard wins his match 3-6,7-5,6-4 :)

He now plays Kozlov

Will be interesting to see how Evo's knee is holding up. Hope it's better, there is BIG pressure on him over this next month or so points wise.
