RE: Andy Murray

The World Cup's getting too interesting. He kept asking for the France vs Argentina score during his PC yesterday and said he couldn't believe he was missing it. So clearly he couldn't potentially play tennis matches which might clash

Seems a sensible decision. Pity it seemingly went down to the wire like that again when he has talked about avoiding such situations occurring again and putting himself through it. But at least he seems to be heading in the right direction just now.

Good article in the Standard about "Murray the Mentor".

This is the side of him that the public rarely see but it is clearly appreciated by the other GB players.

I read this article on the train and thought it was wonderful. But this sentence from Liam seemed rather sad:

"Andys the one person most bothered about helping British players."

Great for Andy, that man really stands up to be counted in every department. But where are the people actually being paid to do that job? Why aren't they the 'person most bothered'?

Am pleased that Andy is not competing at Wimbledon. As said at Queens, he really didn't look right on the practice courts - not pushing himself to the limit, lots of serves, very different tempo to all the other top guys who were hitting. Let him recuperate properly.

Mind you, I read that as of 16th July, Any will be ranked about ATP 830 in the world. That's almost quite funny .....

NB the tweet from Andy about anyone needing a coach for the next two weeks and all the follow-up replies are really funny

CD, 're: the tweet replies - it's really heartwarming to see/read how well liked Andy is by other players/those involved in tennis.

If Andy is looking for a coaching job, rumour has it that the Spanish Football Team are looking for a new coach.  wink

Did he do any more TV work this Wimby? I was hoping to see him again.

Think it was a one off when he commentated the Del Potro/Nadal match. He also was in the studio for about half an hour the day before with Tim and Sue.

Andy was practising at the NTC last week too. I also saw Dan Evans and Jo Konta on the outdoor hard courts.
