When you look at his opponents' rankings (1117 for Aloisi and 1102 fir Zay c.f. Morgan's 610), it's not quite so impressive that he made such heavy weather of beating Zay, but even so, at least he qualified.
As you say, it seems harsh that he still needs to win another match to get a point, especially when you see the draw he's got:

Unfortunately, Morgan got 'rewarded' for qualifying with an absolutely rubbish draw. :( He has met J-A S-dL three times, in 2002, 2005 and 2006, and has lost each time, though their last two matches went the distance.
Morgan is not due to play on Monday.
