Sarah Borwell in the main draw and likely to be seeded 7.


Sarah Coles and Jane O'Donoghue in qualies.


 


Borwell is still deciding which tourney to go for since she is on the entry list for Fort Walton Beach - 25k which is in the same week.

Sarah won't be seeded and Tampa and Fort Walton are on different weeks.

Jane withdrew Don't know why

Sarah Coles beat a Bulgarian girl going by the name of Svetlana Krivencheva (ranked 506, about 150 places lower than Sarah) in the first qualifying round. Slightly odd scoreline: 6-1, 6-7[5], 6-0 !

A good way to start the year for Sarah, she had a bit of a win drought in the autumn.

She faces Canada's Ekaterina Shulaeva in qr2. Shulaeva is 19 and ranked 403 (reached no 80 in juniors). However, she dispatched the 13th seed 1 and 1 in rd1. 2006 highlights were 2 semis and a quarter-final in Canadian 25Ks

Sarah Borwell is in the main draw

She faces Christina Schiechtl in rd1. The Austrian is ranked 264, with a career high of 230. Prefers to play on clay. 2006 highlights were a 10K title and three 25K semis.

Hopefully Sarah's shoulder problems are now behind her

That's pretty disappointing but then again it was Sarah's first match of the season so she was bound to be a little rusty.

Hopefully her shoulder is not still hindering her serving
