RE: Josh and Bloomers' Competitors Week 1

Masterful inactivity from Josh and Richard (and Greg too!): Josh reaches his highest ever ranking: rising four places to 203 as the week begins. Richard goes up three to 211.

Stakhovsky, Ascione, Montcourt, El Aynaoui and Nunez (off the bottom of the table) lose rankings places.

(Greg rises two to 189 as the week begins)

Eight players on the table behind them, plus at least another 12 more off the bottom can overtake from the main draws of Challengers.  There's likely to be a few in ATP qualifying as well!

Table Updated: Josh and Behrend  playing in Chennai qualies. Stakhovski, Vagnozzi and Troiki playing for the big points in Doha.

If Josh gets to the qualifying round, I'm going to have to extend the table upwards, as 5 points from qualifying would send him up into the top 200s.....

Table updated: Josh & Behrend are out of Chennai. Also, Bloomers is actually at 210, because Ascione should not have been on the table, and Dorsch isn't playing until next week....phew!

Updated for Doha: Troiki goes out behind Josh. Unfortunately, Stakhovsky and Vagnozzi can both overtake him if they win their final qualifiers tomorrow.

No threats playing in Challengers tomorrow.

Vagnozzi went out in Doha qualies

One new name to add to the list of threats is : Younes El Aynaoui, who's in as a wildcard and up against To-Jo tomorrow in Doha. He'll overtake all three of the Brits if he does win that one

It's not looking good for the Brits: El Aynaoui is a set up on ToJo and is 3-0 up in the second set tiebreak

In a single bound,  El Aynaoui leaps over three tall Brits. Greg's now 192, Josh 204 and Richard 212.

The good news is there's no- one left in the ATP tournaments that can overtake (or at least not who's currently ranked in the top 270)

Next up, tonight in Sao Paolo, is Garcia (vs Santos), who could advance to 1 point behind Bloomers.

In Noumea, overnight, Odesnik plays Kuznetsov. Odesnik will overtake Greg if he wins, while Kuznetsov will come to a point behind Richard.

Tsonga plays Bohli, and will overtake Josh if he wins.

Mark Lopez takes on Ascione, Tourte  plays Sidorenko, and will move to 2 points behind Bloomers.

Garcia, Tsonga, Lopez and Tourte didn't play - rain in Noumea, and I don't know what in Sao Paolo.

Kuznetsov beat Odesnik, so Greg's safe, but Richard's heavily threatened next round.

El Ayanoui lost to Ljubicic, who overtakes Robredo to move to WR 6th.

Pim-Pim   won in Adleaide last night, and disappears off the top of the table.

Looks like they played through the night in New Caledonia:  all the matches did get played:

Lopez, Tsonga and Tourte  all went out

Tonight in Sao Paolo, we have Garcia's first round finally taking place, to take him a point behind Bloomers.

In Noumea, Cipolla plays Mertl;  Guez, Kuznetsov and  Lacko are all playing.

Cipolla would overtake Greg; Mertl  would overtake Richard

Guez would overtake Josh, Kuznetsov would overtake both Josh and Bloomers, Lacko would overtake Bloomers.

- could be a bad night! Pins in. Fingers crossed!

It was a bad night: Josh drops another place to 205 (still up 1 on the week); Richard drops two to 214 (where he started).

In Noumea:

Guez won, overtakes Josh, and will overtake Greg if he wins tonight.

Mertl won, overtakes Richard, and will overtake Josh if he wins tonight

Lacko won, overtakes Richard, and will overtake Greg and Josh if he wins tonight

Ascione won, to move up onto the table. He'll overtake both Richard and Josh if he wins tonight

Garcia won in Sao Paolo, to sit a point behind Richard.

The good news is that Cipolla and Kuznetsov both went out, So Greg didn't lose places last night.

Meanwhile, lower down the rankings, I think Jonny Marray's just been overtaken by Ferreiro and Dutra- Silva in Sao Paolo, to sit at 258 (no change on the week). Also, Alan Mackin's just had Meffert and Oudsema overtake him, to put him 1 down on the week at 271.
