Good news for Alex's ranking and for his seeding in AO qualies: Vik, Alves, Moodie and Saretta (off the bottom of the table) all drop behind him as points from week 1 2006 come off their totals. Alex starts week 1 at 119th

So far, there's not many threatening him from behind, but this could well change as the ALTs become main draw participants in the 3 ATP events that week. Alex is 9th in line for Chennai. Kubot, Hartfield and Vik are ahead of him in the ALTs list, although Hartfield seems to have committed to the Sao Paulo Challenger.

Bethan, will you be doing a Boggo Analysis?

Of course!

It may come as early as tomorrow but maybe not until Tuesday or Wednesday. (Tim's will come at the same time)

At the moment this table is very much up in the air as we don't know who will gain direct entry/try qualifying for all the ATP events.

If nothing changes from now: (ie no one attempts qualifying and no one else gains direct entry) this is how things are:

Boggo would not be playing and so would be under threat from:

Alves, if he reaches r2 of Chennai, Mello, if he reaches the final of Sao Paulo, Hartfield, if he reaches the final of Sao Paulo, Fraile, if he reaches the final of Noumea, Canas, if he reaches the final of Sao Paulo, and Russell, if he wins Noumea.

So best case: 119 (+4)
worst case: 124 (-5)

I will do another post when we know where everyone will be going!

(P.S. Go Boggo Go!!)

119, hopefully not 199!!!

I reckon Boggo will get into one of the tournaments so hopefully it'll be even better!

Oops, sorry! I've corrected that error. I blame the fact I was racing my laptop to see who would finish first, my post or it's battery (I won, but had to sacrifice accuracy as you can see!)

I agree, I'm sure he'll either get into one or qualify for one, unfortunately, I expect loads of people around him will do the same (unless the pins are working REALLY well and we injure them all) Like I said, I'll reassess and let everyone know nearer the time what the real best/worst case is.

Oh, Bethan! We don't want to injure them!

Just make them have a very bad day at the office.

i know i am jumping the gun slighty but:

Australian Open Qualifying
1 Vanek, Jiri CZE 102
2 Korolev, Evgeny RUS 103
3 Udomchoke, Danai THA 104
4 Muller, Gilles LUX 105
5 Sanguinetti, Davide ITA 107
6 Falla, Alejandro COL 108
7 Waske, Alexander GER 109
8 Gabashvili, Teimuraz RUS 112
9 Pavel, Andrei ROM 113
10 Marach, Oliver AUT 115
11 Vik, Robin CZE 117
12 Sluiter, Raemon NED 119
13 Economidis, Konstantinos GRE 120
14 Moodie, Wesley RSA 122
15 Bogdanovic, Alex GBR 123

so with alex 15th on the list suerly he will be in the top set of seeds as some of the guys above will get into the MD, but how many people above are defdning points that would effect seeding places?

Qualy seeding should be based on the end of week 1 rankings, so:

....So if no- one wins anything in week 1, Alex would be lying 13th - so top seed in his section It needs just five withdrawals for him to be a top 8 seed - but I don't know if there's any advantage in that?

If you are a Top 8 seed you can only meet a seed ranked 25-32 wheras if you are seeded between 9-16 you could meet a seed between 17-24...I think!!
