Also, a lot of the Aussie Open will be shown live on BBC interactive as happened earlier this year.
What happens is that the night session matches each day [which start at 8am GMT] will be shown live and also any British matches which happened during the day [Australian time] will be recorded and shown in full.

sounds good to me thanks... at last the BBC are seeing tennis as a sport that has more than wimbledon , its a start
there is a good chance but you never no with the beeb , they aired there 1st encounter but only highlights of there second , right ? and then they didnt even play there last one coz i watched it on sky
I wish that the BBC would show the full days play on interactive, they have the rights to do so but they didn't this year, hopefully in 2007. I will try to record British matches and pass them on to anyone who would like to watch them. I'm going to need to record all the coverage anyway as all my Jan exams are over those 2 weeks
I doubt that the Beeb would show any Murray/Henman/Boggo matches before rd3. That's the earliest they tend to do so - they showed Tim's loss v Davydenko in rd3 in 2005.
The BBC showed the Murray-Henman Basel match live but for the two matches they had during the American hard court swing this year, they didn't show either, not even highlights.

It's because there will be at least 10 withdrawals from the Main Draw meaning at least 10 above him will not be playing qualfying. Also seedings are based on the rankings after Week 1 and some players below Alex are defending points in that week (and maybe Alex will gain some!)
It's not a definate but odds on he will have a decent seeding.
if the courts are fatser that might help. alex's results in austrlia have been underwhelming in the past (save for the decent DC debut). some of this i think down to needing that extra level fo fitness in the heat. how mnay brits do we anticpate being int he qualies?

yaeh alex will undoubtedly have a top 16 seeding - only needs a few withdrawals above him. to start with, phillipoussis will be one as he'll get a WC i'm sure!
think alex will have a great chance to qualify - no players will get much better prep than the work alex will be doing in the states surely! i presume most of our players with high enough rankings will go for the qualies. can't really think who'll give it a miss. would usually say alan wouldn't bother but the new alan i'm sure will!
Qualies wise I reckon that we'll have: Boggo, Bloomfield, Goodall, Marray and Mackin for sure.
Baker is ranked 315 and so has an outside chance of making the cut but I'm not sure whether he'll bother to make the trip as he'll require a lot of withdrawals...he might decide to play the 15K in Sunderland instead that week, he's got 9 points to defend in the first two weeks. Mark Hilton was in a similar situation a few years ago and actually made the cut when ranked about 320 but he only found out a day before qualifying was due to start and couldn't make it over there in time.
Boggo, Bloomfield and Mackin are all spending the off season in the States which should help their preparation a lot, they'll be used to the sort of temperatures they're going to get down under and more used to the type of courts. In the past they've spent the off season training indoors and then gone to compete on rebound ace which is a massive transistion.
Boggo's played AO qualies twice, lost in rd2 both times. Mackin played in 2005 and lost in rd1 to Marach. Bloomfield played earlier this year was suffering from jet-lag and lost in rd1, Marray also lost in rd1. Goodall hasn't played in Melbourne before.
The faster courts will definately suit our players. If Alex is seeded in the top 8, he's got a great chance of qualifying, he'll be more prepared fitness-wise this time round which will make a massive difference. As for the others, it all depends on the draws, Goodall is the most likely to take advantage of a good draw. The rebound ace doesn't particularly suit Marray's style while Bloomfield and Mackin haven't tended to do so well outdoors in the past.
