Akhazzan missed a seeding by just four places!!! Bad luck there.
Not a bad draw for him this time though, he got 14 year old world junior number 1046 Harry Fowler of the US. Fowler's results are pretty good for his age, but I think that Faris will win because he is a full year older and much more experienced.
Dyce plays world number 67 Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in the first round. Tough draw actually, Berankis won the 14 and under title in 2004 (defeated Dan in the quarters), so the surroundings suit him pretty well.
Elias will be really tough. He can give loads of top 20 players a run for their money on hard courts.
Dyce has a good chance of defeating Berankis if he plays his best tennis. A win here will increase his points total by 10, so he will get his ranking up even if he loses in the second round. But I'm hoping that he will upset Elias, or even better, Elias will be upset in the first round.
Doubles draw isn't out but I'm guessing that it will feature the usual combo on Dyce and Brad Cox.
On an entirely different note, Bernard Tomic withdrew. He would have stormed to the title I believe and I don't think that too many 14 year olds have won the 16&U edition till now. Odd decision.... hopefully he isn't injured.
Shocking result. He didn't do badly at all last week.
18&U First Round:
Dyce lost 62 67 62.
Result of the round for me has to be Chase Buchanan taking out world number 24 Jose Roberto Velasco! His best result till now and I am sure that we will see loads of such stuff from him in the years to come.
