Head of Men’s Tennis – Paul Hutchins Head Coach – Paul Annacone Paul Hutchins is one of Britain’s most successful coaches and was Davis Cup Captain for a record 31 matches in 13 years taking Britain to the Davis Cup final in 1978 - the first time GB had reached the final for 63 years. Since 1987 Paul has managed his own business working on some of the most successful programmes in tennis.
Paul Hutchins will be supported by Paul Annacone, who will dedicate 20 weeks in the UK per year to the LTA to help bring about real change in the men’s game. Brad Gilbert, coach to Andy Murray, will also play an important role in creating a new ‘winning’ culture both with our players and coaches, as will Davis Cup captain John Lloyd and Davis Cup coach Peter Lundgren. An important role for this new team is to ‘up-skill’ many of our coaches to help them achieve higher standards, success and participation in the sport.
Key responsibilities at the LTA: Full-time coaches, programmes and age group captains from 10-and-under through to the pro tour.

I am glad there is some emphasis on bettering the skills of our coaches, as it is my firm belief that many of the problems in British tennis have been caused by bad coaching. Particularly by coaches who believe there is only one "correct" way to play, and try to make players conform instead of bringing out the best of the talents they have naturally.
I agree Madeline, I'm a great believer in the "if it works, don't change it" saying. Jamie Murray's singles decline in his early teens is a prime example of bad coaching.
I think we should actually have separate people in charge of players on the pro tour and the younger age groups, to be honest.
