And Davydenko beats Robredo.

Johnnylad, you seem to have a touch of Tursunovitis with all those exclamation marks

is anyone else amazed at the meteoric rise of davydenko, who i've always seen as a rather limited player!

he is just so consistent and plays an incredibly high volume of tournaments!

His groundstrokes are good and usually have great depth. He's "Mr.NoUnforcedErrorsMan" and he never seems to be injured or play badly...

i think today was the proper time to kickstart the tourney ALIVE and WELL!! Watched the Federer and Roddick, wasnt disappointed pity someone had to lose!

Well Federer managed to scrape into the semi finals by saving 3 match points and Lujbo was similar except he was 2 points away from defeat.

All to play for in the final rubbers of the red group. i think roddick will beat nalby to advance unless lujbo springs an upset against fed (highly unlikely) unless he plays like roddick who did have chances.

I managed to follow the scoreboard for half the second set in the Roddick Federer match. Being a Roddick fan I was gutted to watch him lose 2 matches points, and then I had to go out for 5hours . He's getting closer to beating the Fed and hopefully he beats Nalby tomorrow to move forward, I think he deserves the semis place more than Ljubicic.

Just out of curiousity, if they both win 2 and lose 1 what decides it then? Does it go down to sets/games won?

My ideal last four would be Federer, Roddick, Blake and Robredo. What does everyone else want to see?

Unashamedly copied from another forum of which I am a member:

If 2 are level, it goes H2H.

If 3 are level, it goes to %sets won, then %games won.

Not total sets won, not total games won - %of.

In other words, if say Roddick and Ljubicic are level, Roddick goes through as he beat Ljubo.

If Roddick, Ljubicic and Nalbandian are level, you would take the number of sets they won as a percentage of the total they played to determine who would go through. Then if they were still equal, the same with games won to games played.

If all 3 were still level Lord knows what they do - spin a coin??

Thanks Madeline. Using % of games won not number is fairer in my opinion, although harder to work out!

what a match between fed and roddick, brilliant.

from the bbc report:

World number five Roddick was left to rue his missed chances, and rounded on a Chinese journalist who suggested his tactic of coming to the net was a liability.

"My serve-and-volley game put me one point away (from winning) and you're saying it didn't work?" asked Roddick.

"I suggest learning something about tennis before you comment on it."

typical tennis journo, ist there a saying if u cant say something sensible shut up??

i think its a bit harsh telling off a journalist!1. hes chinese 2.probably got limited knowledge on the game 3.chinese men not making a bigger impact on the world stage so its harder to get into the sport if theres no established star.

Btw, at the same time its really funny!

I think it was a bit harsh to tell off a journalist but I guess it gives an insight into what he was feeling after the match, even more than the rest of his answers do. I mean it would kinda suggest that Roddick wasn't particularly happy with himself having lost!

I agree it's funny though!

Big shock alert: The Bryan Bros are very close to being knocked out of the masters Cup: they are 4-5 down with a break  in the third against Hanley & Ullyet.

....and out they go: their round robin results are 1 & 2.

Hanley & Ullyet go through 3-0

- hang on though, that puts them level with the other 2 teams on points, which means it's done on sets won?

Bryan & Bryan are 4-5 sets won/lost = 44%

Damm & Paes are 4-4 = 50% so they go through with Hanley & Ullyet!!
