This challenger is as usual, ridiculously strong - 15 top 100 players !!! Alex and Mike were having a laugh over the strength of the entry list.

It's even going to get stronger as Hrbaty is almost certain to ask for a wildcard. This challenger is like the "Wimbledon of Slovakia."

It should be upgraded to an ATP event.

So far, Johansson, Hajek, Vanek and Falla have withdrawn. It looks doubtful that Lopez will play aswell.

Jonny Marray and James Auckland are in qualifying. They've both got a great chance of getting through.

QR1:

J Marray [GB][2] v I Zelenay [Svk]

J Auckland [GB][3] v F Polasek [Svk]

Marray and Zelenay have played once before, in a futures in 2005 when Zelenay won 6-2, 7-6. However, in 2005 Zelenay reached a high of 279 but this year he's been struggling with injury [out from March to mid-October] and has slipped to 622.
The seed in Marray's half is Austrian Julian Reister, who Auckland beat in Stockholm.

Polasek is ranked 651. This year he's made 4 futures quarters, a semi and a final in Iran.

Website is:
http://www.stz.sk/index.php?id_clanek=687&id_odkaz=7&id_pododkaz=&id_stranka_typ=2&from=0&id_lang=0

It's completely uncomprehensible as it's entirely in Slovakian. I can't make out whether there are live scores or not

That's the Slovak Tennis Association site - the Bratislava tournament site is at http://www.tatrabankaopen.sk/index.php - it only shows the qualifying OoP at the moment, but maybe it will develop ...

Woohoo, I have live scores !!!!

Go to:

http://www.tbopen.tipex.sk/?p=score#obsah

or if that link doesn't work go to http://www.tbopen.tipex.sk/

and click on live score on the left-hand side.

Jonny is up next on court 2 and James will be on court 3 in about 90 min. Can someone provide score updates on here ? I'll be out until 4 so hopefully I can catch the rd2 qualies matches.

Looks like Jonny won!

Jonathan Marray (GBR) [2] vs. Igor Zelenay (SVK) 4:6, 6:0, 6:1

not quite sure what's happening to Jamie's match though, it was supposed to be 3rd on Court 3, but the 4th match is on. ON the order of play it says 'nasleduje' which according to the might slovak-english translator site means 'following' So they've probably just rescheduled. time will tell.

Weird that the main draw is so strong but the qualifying draw is so week that Jonny and James are so highly seeded!

Great win for Jonny. When Zelenay was doing well last year he was a Brit basher in British futures tournaments! Nice to get him back!!

I wonder if some players, more so this time of year think if they're not going to make the main draw by right, it's not worth the effort.

Could well be. Great chance for Jonny and James to make a main draw and sneak a win to push up their ranking!

It's just been passed on to me that Jonny has confirmed that James won too.

Jonny plays a famous name next:

QR2: (q2) Jonny Marray WR 310 v (WC) Miloslav Mecir (SVK) WR 1532

He's the son (I assume) of the AO/USO finalist of the same name, who won the Olympic tennis gold medal in the year when Miloslav junior was born and now coaches him. He only had to beat an unranked WC to get this far so, so hopefully isn't as scary as his name would suggest!

Also:

QR2: (q3) James Auckland WR 313 v Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 617

Semjan's best performances to date have been reaching two Futures semis.

Great that James won too!

Jonny should have enough for Mecir. Even if he goes on to greater things Jonny is playing well at the moment and has 1000 places of experience and improvement on Mecir!
