Anne Keothavong: Reached semis of Glasgow 25K and quarters of Jersey
Mel South: Won 25K doubles titles in Nottingham and Nantes and made doubles semis in Jersey and Glasgow
Katie O'Brien: Won Nottingham 25K, reached quarters of Glasgow and semis of Istanbul.
Georgie Stoop: Reached semis of Jersey 25K, beating several players ranked several hundred places higher. Reached a career high ranking of close to the top 400.
Naomi Cavaday: Reached semis of Nottingham 25K and quarters of Jersey 25K. Reached a career high ranking of 355.
I've gone for Anne, really great to see the character she's showed to come back from the disappointing Asia tour and start winning some matches again. Thought her year might tail off after the WTA events but she's proved herself all over again imo.

A really tough one this week. I've gone for Georgie though as, like jamatthews said, her's was the most unexpected of the results. Naomi comes a very close second though.

Really tough decision, I was torn between Katie, Georgie and Naomi but went for Katie in the end because she's been in such fantastic form in the past few weeks, breaking the top 200 for the first time was a big milestone. From reading the LTA reports it sounds like her game has really gone up a notch.
The LTA agree with us They've also named Georgie as their player of the month for October due to her ranking increase and her performance in Jersey.
The teenager says that playing tougher events has made her realise exactly what she needs to work on to improve.
“After deciding I needed to get in better shape, I’ve not only improved my overall fitness and movement on court but through it I developed much more mental toughness which in turn built up my confidence,” Stoop explained.
“I need to continue to do this and keep working on my focus which at times can let me down.
“I'm serious about the goals I’ve set but I’m much more aware now of the kind of work that needs to be done.
“As long as I keep doing this I stand a better chance of winning more matches and getting closer to my goals.”
