Aachen 50K+H Challenger doubles

Aucks is playing with Delgado, they're the 3rd seeds and could do with making the final given that they're defending points from winning the title in 2005.

In rd1 they play wildcards Tobias Clemens and another German geezer called Forster. Shouldn't be too tricky but danger lurks in the quarters in the form of highly talented duo Ernest Gulbis and Mikhail Zverev. Both are very hard hitters and Gulbis looks like he'll be a permanent feature in the top 50 singles very soon. However, they're a new partnership which makes quite a big difference in doubles.

Jamie Murray is playing with Aussie Jordan Kerr and they're 2nd seeds. They play Kas and Korolev in rd1 which is a tricky first round draw, Korolev is top 100 in singles.

Well done to the Brits in Aachen and hopefully we'll have all 3 Brits in the semis facing off against each other

Murray and Kerr face Germans Petzschner and Meffert in the quarters on Thursday.

Auckland and Delgado play Zverev and Gulbis [who surprisingly struggled in rd1 against wildcards Waske and Arriens; winning 10-7 in a champions tiebreak].

Dont know why thats suprising Waske's been in Top 30 in doubles, a fabulous doubles player at this level, I think Arriens is his coach!

We ought to rename this thread, "the Tiger declares war on U*F"

I realised that Waske is a superb doubles player but I thought that Gulbis and Zverev would win in straights because of Arriens but he must still be a pretty good player.

Murray/Kerr v Petzschner/Meffert is 2nd on centre at around 2pm GMT. Will anyone be watching, it'll be on the live video.

Auckland/Delgado v Gulbis/Zverev is the final match on, 2nd in the evening session, probably starting at about 8pm GMT. It'll also be covered by the video.

Wang takes the first set against Carlsen.

Our boys up after this match!

That's very surprising, Wang is basically a counter-puncher, scrambles around the baseline and just gets loads of balls back and frustrates players. I thought that Carlsen's aggressive serve-volley game would be too much for him on indoor carpet.

Wang has broken for 2-1 in second set.

He's playing a bit like Tursunov, going at everything really hard, and its frustrating Carlsen into mistakes!
