Korolev, Pashanski, Coria, Kubot, DeVoest and Gremelmayr drop places as points are defended from last year.

Edit:I had Coria defending too many points. As a result, Boggo does not rise any places!

In Paris, Llodra qualified and climbs off the top of the table. Gabashvili  makes the qualifying round, and advances a place. He's now out unless he's a lucky loser.

Nearly everyone around Boggo is playing somewhere this week.

Like last week, winning the tournament could see Alex break the top 100. However, any sort of good run could either be great rankings-wise or not make much of a difference depending on what those just above him do.

Similarly, a bad run could be really costly with a whole host of players waiting for the chance to overtake (it's the real aim of all non-British tennis players, to overtake the Brits ).

Those to put pins in to begin with are Moodie, Vicente, Economidis, and Hartfield above and Bolelli, Saretta, Berlocq and Fraile behind. Once a few people have gone out I will be more specific.

Bad news.

Federer has pulled out and his spot is taken by Gabashvili as a lucky loser. He (Gabashvili that is) has a bye in the first round and will then face either Spadea or Thomas Johansson, if he wins that match he will overtake Alex.

Rob - I've edited the table to reflect that, hope you don't mind.

I've updated the first post:

Alex advances one place to 120th, overtaking Moodie

Pashanski and Gabashvili also advance.

Economidis goes out in Aachen, De Voest goes out in Rimouski.

On Tuesday, Moodie  can leapfrog back over Boggo if he wins in Aachen. Pins in!

Later in the week, Gabashvili can overtake if he wins his R2 match in Paris on Wednesday against Spadea or Johansson (he has Roger Federer's bye in R1!). If Boggo goes out next round, Saretta and Bolelli  both need to reach the quarters to overtake

Be kind of interesting if Moodie does win because he would then play Boggo in the 2nd round, with the winner being higher placed at the end of the week.

This could be more important than it looks, as last year after all the drop outs, I believe #120 was around the point of Last DA for the Aussie Open so these turf wars around #115-120 could take on a real significance in a few weeks time.

Obviously Boggo has Sunderland points to defend before he can think about being #120 at the time of the Aus Open cut off but a good week this week could defend most of them, therefore a match up with Moodie on wednesday could be pretty important in Boggo's immediate future.

I've unstickied this thread due to having the player of the month poll now up and I've decided not to have more than 5 stickies in a section.

Superb news for Boggo in more ways than one is that his nemisis Wesley Moodie has gone out. He lost to German qualifier Philipp Petzschner in rd1; 6-4, 6-4. Boggo will face Petzschner in rd2.

Re: Gabashvilli in Paris: Him getting in as a lucky loser is kind of annoying but I'm pretty sure he won't overtake as I reckon Johansson will beat Spadea. If Johansson loses to Gabashvilli in rd2 I will sleep in the garden shed for 40 nights.

Saretta plays 6th seed Hartfield in rd1, so there's a good chance he won't be a threat this week.

Vicente's 18th result is an 8: so this doesn't move him any further away from Alex, but it does knock out Berlocq. So more good than bad! Navarro- Pastor is next up for Vicente. Ideally Nav-Pas will win then go out in the quarters, so Alex can overtake Vicente but have his back covered......

Can anyone shed any light on this:

Simone Bolelli got as far as the qualifying round in Basel last week, was beaten, but then got into the main draw as a lucky loser. He was beaten in the first round of the main draw.

Now I had him down as winning 10 points for that week:  5 for making the qualifying round, and another 5 for getting into the main draw, leaving him on 361 points - 6 up on the week.

However, both the ATP and steveg have him down as 356 points - which implies that he only got 5 points last week, and a look at the ATP points breakdown confirms this.

Steveg shows Basel qualifying as 1 point for a R2 defeat, 5 for a qualifying round defeat and 10 for qualifying

Does anyone know the rules for lucky losers?  I've seen LLs in Masters Series get 43 points (8 points for reaching the qualifying round, then 35 points for winning R1, so those points do count in some tournaments?
