Mexico F18 Futures Week 42

Simon Childs and John Rambotas trying to qualify again.

Rambota retired at 4-2 down in first round.

Childs lost to top seed in second round after a good first round win.

No one entered for the main draw, so the only British here will be doubles

Indeed!

Simon Childs links up with Arnar Sigurdsson of Iceland and they thrash a Mexican wildcard pairing 61 60 in the first round to win points and to set up a second round clash with 2nd seeds Raphael Durek and Robert Godlewski, that famous Aussie/Polish combination.

They'll probably be soundly beaten.

Childs and Icelandic dude reach semis of doubles. Childs wins first ATP doubles points following first singles point in Mexico.

Definitely one to watch for the future!

Hi Lean Machine.

Thanks for the update and welcome to the site as a poster!

That's a really impressive win for Childs + Co.

Hopefully he can really push on, maybe come to Britain and get some futures wc's and get his ranking up near 1000 to push on with the second half of next year.

Is he too old for juniors now or still competing at that level too?

That's a superb win for Simon Childs Durek is a very experienced player, gave Jamie Baker some really tough matches earlier this year. Simon's definately made a very promising start to the senior tour, hopefully he might start getting some wildcards into the GB futures next year.

Who do they face in the semis ?

By the way, welcome to the site "leanmachine"

2006 is his final year in the juniors, he hasn't played much on the senior tour before this autumn, he's been concentrating on making the top 200 juniors. He'll be too old to compete in any junior events from Jan 2007 onwards.
