Well I plucked up my courage & worked out the table a day early.......

.....And Andy will start the week by gaining a place: JC Ferrero drops below him, and Dmitry Tursunov drops back somewhat.

We won't know how many can overtake until we have the final result from Metz, though: If Djokovic wins there, then Andy starts at 19th (up from 20th).

Whatever - there's a horribly large number of his closest competitors playing this week.

So Andy ends week 40 at 20th, and goes up one to 19th as JC F drops below him.

Now he has to worry about the four who can overtake him this week. Luckily none can do so until they reach the finals.

Over to Imoen to let us know who to watch out for and how many of them can actually make it past each other.

The table's updated for Monday's results. No movement.

Threats for this week are: Tursunov, if he reaches the final in Moscow, Ferrero if he makes the final in Vienna, Youzhny, if he wins Moscow (beating Dimo in the Semis), and Acasuso if he wins Vienna. Best case is to consolidate the 19th spot. Worst case and Andy's down 3 to 22.

Well the good news is Grosjean and Calleri went out yesterday. The bad news is Hass didn't.

In Moscow, Verdasco & Youzhny went out.

Anyone not mentioned yet has to play.

All in all more than

The table's updated: Gasquet advances. All the players mentioned by MMM & Nads are out.

Just three threats for this week left: Tursunov in Moscow and Ferrero and Acasuso in Vienna. all three play this afternoon & evening. None will overtake today.

Re Rob's note about the points for Moscow not being clear (in the first post):

Steveg ranking and results page show the winner getting 250 http://stevegtennis.com/

Their tournament fact sheet, which you can get by clicking on the 250, shows 300 http://stevegtennis.com/factsheets/2006/a-moscow.htm

And the ATP site's event profile shows 175! http://www.atptennis.com/en/tournaments/profile/438.asp

Sort the bones out of that!

(Oh, and they got 250 last year!)

...................Meanwhile Tursunov has just levelled his match against our Davis Cup friend Stakhovsky: 5-7 6-4 now..  Come on young Sergiy!!

.....and Dmitri's out!

So now it's just Ferrero or  Acasuso  who can overtake - a maximum drop of two.

JCF is a set up against Melzer.

What a great day for Andy's ranking:

Ferrero and Acasuso both join Tursunov sitting out the rest of this week

so that's Andy secure at number 19 again!

The remaining interest is in Djokovic and Niemenen not getting too far away, and Gasquet and Hrbaty not getting too close, but we can leave most of the pin work to Tim & Boggo's competitors now!

ATP Tournament page lists points, does that help? For Moscow it is http://www.atptennis.com/en/tournaments/profile/438.asp although I noted that it does not have qualifier points on there (which I have seen on there for other tournaments)

Thanks Nads,  please check out Madeline's post above which describes the issue we have - confusing, but we're getting more and more confident that it's a 250 pointer.
