Alex faces Belgian wildcard Stefan Wauters in Friday's quarter-finals. Wauters is only ranked 328, but in rd2 he caused a massive upset, beating 2nd seed and world no 33 Kristof Vliegen 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.
Wauters, reached a career high of 212 earlier this year but prior to this tournament, apart from reaching two futures finals on clay, he's only won 1 match since March. Despite being a clay-court specialist, he's really found his form on the indoor hard courts of Mons, aswell as knocking out Vliegen, he beat top 150 player Jerome Haehnel in straight sets in rd1.
Alex is already guaranteed to move up to a career high ranking of 133 next Monday, if he beats Wauters, he'll move into the top 130 for the first time in his career.
