ATP Vienna

alex has entered the qualies here. is currently number 9 so with a bit of luck could scrap a seeding, surely this should please some to see him puhing for these events, with mumbai and vienna with mons challenger in between. i really hope he gets a bit of lukc and some decent draws here.

qualfiying for vienna could be quite lucrative, only requireing 2 wins then with 5 points and 15 points available for the 1st round . It would be great if 1 pulls out ahead of him so he makes that top 8 as in the 16 draw it makes a big difference on who you will play 1st round.

at munbai last year the DE dropped to 153 so Al will be hoping for that again, although as a top seed in Q's he would recieve a 1st round bye which is always nice.

Not Mumbai, Ho Chi Minh.

Cut offs in India are generally higher than that of those in other parts of India, I don't think that it'll go down to 150. But let us hope for that....

It's not strange!!

The tournament in Ho Chi Minh was replaced by the one in Mumbai this year. Mumbai is a new entry to the calendar.

Since Michael Berrer lost to Tommy Robredo this will mean that his ranking will fall below Alex's which will mean that Alex will be seeded and so avoid Juan Martin Del Potro which is good.

Luis Horna is also likely to make the main draw, so Alex could be seeded 6th

I think the seeding is done on the current rankings, so that'll be this Monday's rankings.

I think he should play play play like Davydenko until his ranking is high enough to take rests!

yeah quite, its not like he's playing gruelling grand slam 5 setters - whats the difference to potentially winning in mons and playing semis / final, or losing in qf's in mons and trying to qualify in vienna - latter prob easier!!

strange decision by alex, maybe he has looked and is having trouble making the connections from belgium to austria? he is playing well so he must have a good reason. maybe he knows he will beat vilgers :)

i wonder if he will pop up in Rennes or possibly is concered that if he over does it his groin injury could re-surafce?

Rennes would definitely be easier to get to...

Seems a bit of a premature decision from Alex, it'll look a bit silly if he loses to Vliegen tomorrow and therefore could have played Vienna qualies and then won't be able to get a SE to Rennes.

However, as Count Zero said, maybe he's found out that he can't get a flight from Mons to Vienna and he's going to play Stockholm or Moscow qualies instead. He played Stockholm last year.

yah maybe he's going to stockholm then (if he loses mons)

noticed that last yr he could have had an LL just by sticking around - Waske who he beat in 2nd round picked it up - doh!

edit: just noticed ryanair fly from their belgian hub at charleroi (just down the road from mons) to stockholm each night at 9pm. perfect.  think boggo will go for that!  a snip at 140 euros plus tax tom night...
