Anna Kournikova has hinted about making a return to the tennis circuit and linking up again with Martina Hingis to renew their grand slam winning doubles partnership.
However, Hingis had a warning for the Russian, "She'd really have to commit herself to this and grind it out" said the Swiss.
i dont think she will! ok she may be playing on the WTT, but thats a different ball game, just exhibtions. she wont able to handle the power of the womens game. look at other possible comebacks, Capriati, Seles. they have unofficially reitred, but they know they have to come back in the best shape they have ever been to compete with the even bigger hitters.
If she returns I don't think she could make the top 50 in singles, the top players are just too powerful. As Vik said, the game has moved on so much in terms of power and athleticism in the last few years and unlike Hingis, Anna doesn't have the speed or weight of shot to compete. I reckon she'd be able to make top 100 though, after the top 50, there isn't much depth at all in women's tennis compared to the men's.
I think she could definately reach the top again in doubles, her volleying skills and anticipation at the net were among the best in the world and her weak serve can't be exploited so easily.
It's going to be interesting to see how doubles progresses over the next 5 years, the top Chinese players have brought in new tactics [4 at the baseline] and won grand slams with those. I wonder if that will spread to the men's game
