Djokovic-Nieminen is on court, a fascinating match for rd1. It's been all serve so far in the 1st set, Djokovic leads 6-5 and Nieminen now has a point to take it into a tiebreak.
My money's on Nieminen as he's got the extra experience and has been in great form lately. This is Djokovic's 1st hard court tournament of the summer aswell. Reckon Jarkko will do it in 3 sets
Meanwhile on centre, Rafa's hitting back, he leads 2-1 in set 2 and has break point on the Querrey serve
And Querrery double faults under pressure and so Nadal leads 3-1.
I feel that if Querrery is going to win this one, he has to do it in 2 as Nadal's grinding abilities and extra class at this level could be too much come a deciding set
Gimelstob has just beaten Feli Lopez 63 76. Lopez has really disappointed this year. I would have thought his big leftie serve would have suited these fast courts.
Nieminen has the minibreak at 5-4 in the 1st set breaker against Djokovic. But the Serb hits back and it's now 5-5. I think that's 3 points in a row for him.
A big surprise has occurred on court 4 and yet another blow for my predictions team, Gimelstob has beaten Lopez 6-3, 7-6. Very impressive result for the serve-volleying American, I didn't expect that at all

Yeah I agree, apart from reaching the Gstaad final in early July on clay Lopez has had few wins all year.
Gimelstob is a serve-volleyer though so maybe his aggressive net game suited the fast, bouncy courts more. Because they're so bouncy, Lopez sliced shots wouldn't have had the same effect - he gets real bite with his sliced serve and backhand on grass
Rafa's taken the 2nd set 6-2. Apparently Querrery was serving superbly throughout the 1st set, like Kendrick at Wimbledon. He hasn't been able to keep that level up in set 2.
Nadal's been warned several times for taking too long between points
Oh Andy!! With O'Connors on his side, i thought he might improve his variety, i know he has come from a injury but its unfortunate! Oh BTW Roddick took the second set tiebreak by 7-4 7-6 6-7, anothe tiebreak perhaps!
Surprise to see Berdych go, i though his serve probably help him out on the fast courts, but hes been inconsistent, Gasquet is no surprise given he played the final, what if murray was in gasquets shoes, would be allow him to get away with a 1st round loss even though he has points to defend!
