The big surprise is that Daniel Cox hasn't entered, must be playing some of the European futures instead. He might have had a chance of getting into the qualifying draw due to a few withdrawals as at 135 he isn't that far outside the cut. Does he have the same problem as Naomi Cavaday in that there's a limit in the number of senior tournaments he can play before he's 18 ?

Josh Milton, Graeme Dyce and David Rice have all entered. However, they've just missed the cut for the qualifying which is at 123. Josh Milton should hopefully make it, he needs 6 withdrawals, Graeme Dyce needs 11 withdrawals which may be a bit optimistic and David Rice needs 14 withdrawals which is unlikely.

Dan now has 4 ATP points. To crack the top 1000, he needs 8. To do it in one week he'd need to make a futures semi-final which is probably beyond him at the moment but he could do it by making rd2 one week and then another quarter-final.

He's sure to get plenty of wildcard chances in the GB futures this autumn. I'm not sure how he likes indoor hard though

Haha. I worked very hard on tracking down the exact place where I had heard first heard of him.

An article on MW about Andy led me to another article, which was on Daniel Evans. I read Dan Cox's name there and researched about him and became a fan at that very moment.

I was really new to tennis back then, so there is no way I would have heard of Dan before that. Now I am following/trying to follow the career Nick Jones.

It's a shame that Cox and Rice aren't in the draw, they must have withdrawn as they would have easily made the cut.

Josh had quite a tough draw, having to face American 6th seed [ranked 92], Jason Jung in rd1. It was quite close - 6-3, 7-5.

A fine rd1 win for Graeme Dyce, beating the 5th seed Rasid Winklaar 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Winklaar is ranked 88 in juniors and has won several grade 3 and grade 4 titles this summer.

Dyce now has a great chance to make the main draw as in the final qualifying round [there are only 2 rounds] he plays Russian Vladimir Zinyakov who's ranked 243 in juniors and only scraped in as an alternate. He beat an American wildcard in rd1. I thought the qualies would have been finished by now but they must have been held up by the rain.
