I'm posting this before the rankings have come out and before tennisfacts has updated so I apologise if there are any mistakes. If you spot a mistake please let me know and I'll correct it. I will update the table after the final of Toronto.

I know! It's a bit strange setting the table up though and looking at the people below him who have always been way above before (agassi for one and Gaudio and Ginepri), the really big names and Andy's better than them - ha!

Andy gains two places at the beginning of the week from various (Ginepri and Acasuso to be specific) playes defending big points.
However, he has to reach the quarters before he can gain any more places because the gap between him and Kiefer is so huge.
So, pins required to prevent any loss of places: please stick it to Djokovic, Verdasco, Ginepri, Hrbaty, Acasuso, Tursunov, Gasquet. I hope that's enough to start you off
Going with blind optimism here, winning the tournament could take Andy as high as 11th.

Well, Gasquet lost so I don't have to change that on the table, now I just have to wait and hope that my adding up is all correct when the rankings come out tomorrow morning!

My thanks to Madeline for pointing out the mistakes I didn't spot. The table is now 100% accurate ready for play to begin. Hope you're all busy sticking pins in models of Andy's rivals

I'm being very dim here, but Andy is now 21 as of yesterday, so what does the 19 mean as the first column on that impressive working document in post one of this thread?
I greatly admire the massive amount of hard work to keep this document up todate so feel very stupid not understanding it fully.
The 19 is the 'running rank'. The running rank refers to where the players are with their current points total (the running points, the 5th column) once defending points, and points from the tournament this week are taken into account.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th columns are the situation at the start of the week (well the 3rd is just the names and doesn't change!), so are what you find when you look at the rankings page on the ATP site.
So, Andy is at 21 in the world this week, hence the 21 in the second column on his line. However, once the 35 points he is defending are replaced by 5 (the number of points he has won so far in the tournament) and the same has been done for all those around him, his total points puts him in 19th place. SO. If everyone below him who can overtake this week, don't and if he loses before the quarters then he will end the week at number 19.
I hope this helps Tim and don't feel stupid it took me months to fully understand how it all works. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll try and explain better.

We are not sticking those pins hard enough - Ginepri, Hrbaty and Tursunov all won. Get them sharpened for the others today!
