Naomi is no 23 on the list, great to see that she'll be seeded ! I think she can do some really damage in this field and make the latter stages. A lot will depend on how her big weapon - her leftie serve, suits the hard courts of New York. Naomi hasn't played on outdoor hard since last October when she won a 10k futures in India. My guess is that it will be very effective, the New York cement is pretty fast and Naomi can clock up to 115mph on her 1st serve which is 2nd only to the likes of the Williams sisters, Davenport and Sharapova.
Jade will have to go through qualifying which is during week 1 of the US Open. She should have a good chance as she'll be seeded.
Niki Prosser and Tara Moore are on the alts list for the qualies but are too far down to have a chance of getting in.
Oh thats good, I agree she should be able to do some damage in this. She is with Bollettieri currently for a few weeks so hopefully can really show what she is made of when she gets to this! Good luck to her, also to Jade in the quallies!
That's great news, the Bollettieri academy should provide Naomi with perfect preparation for the US Open.
Just been reading the interview with Naomi in this month's "British tennis magazine." Amazingly, given the success she had in June, she'd only played club doubles on grass before the DFS qualies. Talk about being a natural on the surface !
She says that after the US Open she wants to play more senior tournaments and start to play more 25Ks.
Does the limit on the number of senior tournaments Naomi can play, extend to next year aswell ? Does she have to wait until she's 18 to play as many as she wants.
i dont think it matters on the itf tennis circuit, but i dont know how naomi going to play 25k tournies when her ranking is around the 500. does she mean she'll be playing 10k, try to win at least 3, then attempt to qualify for a 25k?

Could someone clarify this? Who limited the number of events?
The WTA brought in a rule a while back that players between 17 and 18 can only play 15 pro tournaments a year to prevent burnout. They can only have 8 wildcards. After 18 Naomi can play as many tournaments as she wants.

She's now ranked 480ish so she'll be able to get into 25K qualies. Also there are quite a few 25Ks coming up in Britain so she'll get wildcards into those. She might still play the odd 10k but she's better than most of the players in those draws [She was able to compete with top 100 players during the grass court season and I expect it'd be a similar story on clay which is her favourite surface.] In order to take her game to the next level and to really start moving up the rankings she needs to play some 25ks
