I went for Tim in straights.....Bjorkman had a GREAT grass court season, but in the early afternoon with the sun out (it is out right?) I think Henman will have too much for him. Many of Bjorkman's wins were early in Tim career and when Bjorkman was already at his peak.
Nice place to put the "" That lose at the Aussie Open still ticks me off....I was sure Tim was gonna win it that year....the draw was as OPEN as open can be and Bjorkman won so easily....get some revenge again today Tim!
I'm going for Henman in straights. Bjorkman had a great Wimbledon but with that draw Tim would have reached the semis. Jonas reached the US Open semis but that was back in 1997, he's not played on hard courts this summer yet and his game's not as effective as on grass. Earlier this year, he only won a couple of matches on hard courts, losing most in rd1. In Toronto last year he reached rd2 before losing to eventual finalist Agassi in 3 sets.
I know Doug, I remember watching that match between them at the 2002 Aussie open live on the beeb. I couldn't believe how badly Tim was playing after how well he'd played against Rusedski in rd3 and the draw was so open. Everything went right for Bjorkman that day, at 6-6 in the 2nd set breaker he fluked a winner off a smash from Tim to give him set point. I remeber wishing that Greg had been playing Bjorkman instead due to having the bigger serve.
Bjorkman was quite cross with Tim after their rd1 rubber in the DC as Tim won in 4 sets and then after match point he took the p*ss out of Bjorkman - mimicking Bjorkman's normal victory celebration
When Bjorkman beat Tim at Nottingham in 2000 that was probably Tim's worst year on grass since 1995, he lost in rd1 of Queens and then in rd4 of Wimby to the Scud in that 5 setter.
