Qualifying rd1:

A Parmar [GB] v A Falla [Col][11]

The 1st meeting for Arvind will the 23 year old Columbian leftie ranked 122. Falla's best ranking is 110 reached this year. He's spent the past few years on the cusp of the top 100, never quite been able to break in. He has qualified for several slams but has mostly been extremely unlucky with his draws, getting Fed or Roddick several time sin rd1. He's an all-court player, has good results on clay, grass and hard. No real stand-out weapons, just a compact player who does most aspects pretty well. His main weakness is maybe his 2nd serve.

He's been in excellent form lately, won a round at ATP Indianapolis before losing in 3 sets to Ginepri. Made the quarters of Cordoba and prior to that he qualified for Wimbledon and had a fantastic career-best win over Davydenko in 4 sets in rd1. He lost in rd1 in 4 sets to German Phillip Kolschrieber.

If Arvind wins he's likely to play top seed Nicholas Mahut tomorrow in the 2nd and final qualies round. Mahut made Wimbledon rd3, giving Federer a tough match.

Match will start on the live scoreboard in about 10 min maybe less.

Arv really has to win these two matches, it'd be extremely unlikely that he'd get a lucky loser place if he doesn't as he's not seeded.

Match has started:

Falla won the 1st game to 30. Arv now serving at 15-15

Good start on serve for Arv. I have a good feeling about this match, really feel that he can beat Falla. He's qualified here in the past, came very very close to beating Moya in rd1 a couple of years ago.

It's 2-2, Arv has been holding very easily so far. He has 30-30 on the Falla serve

Falla responds with a love service game to lead 4-3

It's a similar story in the Mahut-Nunez match at the moment, the winner of which will face the winner of this one. Mahut serving at 4-5 in that one

Interestingly, Mahut is also a set down (a break up in the 2nd though).
