Jamie Baker is on the entry list here and you would expect Jamie Murray to appear in qualifying assuming he is allowed (he is still playing in Aptos Challenger doubles).
Disappointingly Jamie Murray doesn't appear in singles qualies, which is a shame as the draw is very week again. Asking too much for a wild card I think.
Tournament website http://www.lexingtonchallenger.com/ is quite a good one and also includes womens tournament with some sad news for British players in women's qualifying.
Evans is ranked 80 places lower than Jamie but he's the same age and a former world junior no 2. They played once in the juniors on the grass of Roehampton and Evans won 6-1, 6-3. Evans won the US Open boys doubles that year, beating the Murray brothers in the semis.
Recently he won a futures event in the States, he'll be a tough opponent for Jamie. However, if Jamie is to achieve his goal of making the top 240 and US Open qualifying, by the end of August then this is the sort of match he needs to win. As Jamie said last week "I have a short space of time in which to do it. I need to go out and get after the ball !"
Just checked the Lexington website and found that Baker-Evans is underway. Evans broke Jamie early on in the 1st set and broke again when Jamie was serving to stay in it at 2-5. However, Jamie has fought back in set 2 and took it on the breaker 7-5.
Evans leads 1-0 in set 3, I presume it's on serve.
Either that or Evans is a break up. Judging from the tiebreak score though, I think it's most likely that it's back on serve. C'mon Jamie, keeping fighting.
That was definately a big opportunity missed for Jamie. Next up for him is the Vancouver 100K Challenger where he's going to have to qualify - qualies start on Saturday. A shame that Jamie hasn't really been able to capitalise on getting into the main draw of two challengers directly in the past couple of weeks.
