First thing to notice is that Andy starts the week as British number 1 , as Greg loses 14 places to 55th with his Wimbledon and Newport points coming off.

Andy drops 2 places to 45th, as Wimbledon last year drops off

Tim gains three places to 61st, as Bjorkman, Lopez and Mayer lose places from wimbledon last year.

Other big losers are: Grosjean and Johansson who both drop into the table, Tursanov, Djokovic  (who's back below Andy), Youzhny, Gasquet and Gilles Muller.

And it's over to Imoen to let us know who the runners and riders are for tomorrow!

Hi GC77, now that you're back - let me know when/if you want to take over the table again!

I would agree your table expect for Paul Goldstein. He is defending from three tournaments, the 13 and 75 you have but also 36. This last is replaced with his twentieth score of 10 giving him a total of 517.

I will be able to help with the updating of your table this week as well as providing my usual invaluable commentary!

Initially, Tim has done the best of the Brits, having gained 4 places. Andy has only lost two, much better than I'd expected. Greg is the loser, because of the Newport points but it can't be helped. (differnet to Rob's calculations because of people on the same points, mine are right)

As it's the beginning of the week I would suggest a full-frontal attack in regards to pins and apply them with equal fervour for all of the competitors near our three Champions. I'll provide a more concentrated strategy once the matches are underway!

Updated for Goldstein.

Suggested first ultra- sharp pins for:  (all playing tomorrow)

Novak Djokovic, who can go above Andy should he lose. He plays Goldstein tomorrow.

For Ivo Karlovic,  who can go above Greg should he lose.

For Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi, who go above Tim should he lose.

And on the plus side:

For Brachialli, Callieri and Clement, who Greg will overtake if he wins and they lose

(not, of course for Gasquet, even though he's a threat to Greg, as he has to knock out the Fed, so that Tim can beat him in turn in R2)

How about sparing a couple of those pins for Monsier le Fed? It can't hurt to try and our efforts have been devastatingly effective at times

Gasguet must be feeling really confident...playing the way he has....record against the Fed.....and remember....like any sport....its 99% won in the mind !!!!

I don't think I can bring myself to put a pin in Roger.

I also don't think Gasquet is going to beat him. Yes, he beat him once last year - on clay - and yes, he is in form having just won Nottingham. But the quality of players he met there are hardly Fed standard, and he is likely to be tired.

Tim will have to beat Roger in round 2. Only a Brit is allowed to beat him as far as I am concerned!

Given that there were no matches completed today there isn't any change to the table. Just remember to put the pins in tomorrow. (Don't worry madeline, you needn't put the pin into Roger, it's going to be needed elsewhere!)

And don't forget to put pins in Massu as well as all the other competitors. Good luck to Andy tomorrow, hopefully he's Ok about the waiting for 3 matches and not really being sure when he's going to go on.

TIM WON

Let's update that table... 35 replaces 5

Well at the half- way stage today,  Andy's already down one place, as Djokovic wins his match to go thirty points ahead.  Youzhny's also got his first round, so just 41 behind.

Ahead, both Malisse and Santoro have also won, so Andy won't overtake today. However, Almagro, Serra, Soderling and Johansson  all lost, so there's places up for grabs if he gan get to the third round or higher.

Behind  Greg,  Gasquet's out of the chasing pack, but an unseeded outsider called  Tim Henman is now just a round away from overtaking (just some Swiss chap to beat, apparantly). Ahead, Clement  stretched his lead.

Behind  Tim, Bjorkman  was ahead at one point, as he finished in three what it took Tim five sets to do, but he's now 17 points behind. Sanguinetti also won and is 30 points behind. Tim's now level on points with Gasquet,  after his win.

OK. I've updated the table for today but wasn't able to work out the formatting, sorry Rob can you sort it out? Commentary in a mo.

-looks like we were editing it at the same time.  my version is now up there - would appreciate it if you could check.

Andy still 45th (catching up with Novak again), Greg's  still 55th, but won't get back all those points he's defending, so a big drop on the fortnight Tim is up two places, going past Ramirez- Hidalgo (who's out) and Christophe Rochus (who has yet to play).

Looking good above Andy!

Thanks Rob. I would agree with all that (except that in the ATP rankings Murray will be behind Djokovic if they end on the same points, so technically he's at 46.)

Right Commentary time. First of all I'm going to say congrats to the Brits. Today, more Brits went through to the second round than went out! (4 to 3). When was the last time we could say that?!

Anyways, Baker lost so only gets 5 points which should see him move up to number 290 in the rankings, a rise of 5 places.

Boggo also lost, but accquited himself very well against Rafa Nadal. Unfortunately this means he only defends the points from Wimbledon last year so won't have a change in the rankings, depending on what happens around him.

Bloomfield won, very convincingly, Youznhy was the only other person to only give away 5 games in the match. Even Federer lost more, so bravo!  Anyways, he is currently ranked 259, has 140points and an 18th result of 1. So that becomes 174 points (so far!) taking him to roughly 222 in the rankings, a rise of 37 places!

Delgado also won, though it took him five sets. He is currently at 441(quite close to where Andy was last year isn't it?) in the rankings, with 61 points. Does not have an 18th result so gains all 35 points. taking him to 96 points, roughly 343 in the rankings, a rise of 98 places.

Now, Andy. Our British Number 1 once again. He is relatively safe at 46 in the world should he lose next match. Pins into Alberto Martin  who plays Di Mauro in the first round tomorrow; Mikhail Youzhny who plays Kunitsyn in the second round; and Daniele Bracciali who plays Galvani in the second round. However all those players need to win the next two rounds to overtake Andy, should he lose in round 2.

Should he win in round 2 he will already gain 2 places (back to where he started the week). (Almagro and Chela). However, pins into Djokovic who plays Robredo in the second round; Gilles Simon who plays Grosjean in the first round;and fabrice Santoro who plays Berdych in the second round. All three of these losing would move Andy up 5 places, to 41 in the world.

Should he win round 3, the rewards will be great. Already he would jump 7 places to number 39, and should Djokovic, Simon, Santoro and Malisse all lose in or before the third round, and Tursunov lose in the first or second round then the jump would be 12 places, to nunber 34! This would require Murray to beat either Phau or Benneteau next round and then Roddick (or someone who just beat him) in the third round.

Moving on to Greg. He lost. So, as many pins as possible into Phau tomorrow as if he wins his first round match he overtakes Greg and Greg'll fall down even further to 56.

Now, Tim. IF he beats the Federer he will gain another three places, at least (four if Phau loses) and reclaim the Brit number 2 spot. (Actually he never had that place, went straight from 1 to 3. oh well.). But that's highly unlikely to put it mildly.

So, lots of pin work needed to ensure he doesn't drop back. pins into: Andreas Seppi who plays Agassi in the second round; Jonas Bjorkman who plays Dlouhy in the second round; Max Mirnyi who plays Philippoussis in the second round; C Rochus who plays Gimlestob in the first round and Davide Sanguinetti who plays Ancic in the second round. All of these players can overtake by winning their next match. So worst case, goes back to 64 in the rankings, where he started the week. And then we get the people who can overtake by winning their next two matches. But we'll worry about them tomorrow.

Well, I warned you there was a lot to say today! Get sticking!
