I hope Matt's ok haven't been able to find anything out about the injury. This was a good run for him, it was a 15K futures so he got 6 points from this tournament which will take him up to 335 from 352.
His conqueror Freddy Nielsen went on to win the final with ease. Although Nielsen is ranked slightly lower than Matt at 367, even if Matt hadn't been injured I would have rated Nielsen as the favourite for the semi as he's got such a good game for grass - he's a really big hitter.
Apart from Matt Smith, the best British performance came from Richard Wire who did really well to qualify and then reach the quarters, scoring a career best victory over world no 647, Italian Ricardo Ghessi in rd2 The national U18 champion in 2005 did really well to push Matt Smith close in the quarters aswell, winning the 1st set 7-5.
