I saw last night that Aoi was in the Qualifying field and thought "anyone but her please", half expecting that it's exactly what would come of of the draw, she's making her way back up to top 100
.. and here we are ..

The players have met once before back in Feb 2024, in W75 Burnie [2] in Aussie. The Japanese won, but Swan was struggling so bad with her back at that time. It hopefully will be a much better contest this time around.
The draw concerned me too but Swan appears so much more sure of her game now compared to a year ago and most importantly her body seems to be holding up better too
Another good win for Swan, 6-4 6-1. A much more competitive match this one, Saigo has a similar game to Swan and there were plenty of long rallies in the 1st set, Katie just played the important points that bit better and Saigo's serve went awry when break point down too. The 2nd set was a different story as Swan played without pressure and began to dictate play with power and placement. Break point conversion 5 from 6 tells the story.
Every time Katie plays I just hope she gets through it ok but her progress is such great news, she has this and then there's W75s in Brisbane, Sydney and Playford (AUS). I wonder if she'll miss one of those tournaments to ensure she doesn't put her body at risk
