Once a player has been accepted into the Main Draw or Qualifying of a WTA Tournament, she may not withdraw to play singles or doubles in another Tournament in the same week, except [to accept a wild card in a higher tier WTA tournament]

If Fran is planning to play a decent number of 125 events on clay the next month or 6 weeks, is there an outside chance she could take over from Katie as British top spot? Or is that fanciful?

I think we can expect Fran to make at least the QFs at any clay 125 she enters with if not even better

In the 5 week live rankings she is just under 300 points behind. So it would be do able if Katie doesn't pick up points?

Clearly mathematically Fran could be GB #1 before year end.. No ranking counters to defend before January.

It will be very interesting how our top 5 go in the new year. Fit and well, I 'd say Emma and Sonay are our top 2. But Emma is not playing just now and Sonay, although getting back in the groove very quickly, is still making up for lost time rankingswise,
