9 withdrawals from the original list mean that Katie B and Sonay have made the main draw. It's a 56 draw, so they won't be playing a seed in the first round.
In the doubles, Liv and Tereza are 11th on a strong entry list, with Maia and Alexandra 19th. It's a 28 team draw, so the top 4 seeds will get a bye.
R1:- Tereza Mihalikova (SVK) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR56 (28+28) v Hao-Ching Chan (TPE) / Miyu Kato (JPN) (40+32) Repeat of the Beijing first round, which was one 7-5 6-2 by Liv and Tereza
If Tereza & Olivia win their first round they potentially have a cruicial match in the battle for WTA finals against Errani/Paolini
They appear to have met twice before. Liv and Tereza won the final in Berlin in 2025 by a MTB. Errani and Paolini won in the second round in Miami this year in straight sets.
It is looking like 6 pairs in the chase for the last spot in the finals, with the ones currently in the top 7 spots (not counting Krunic and Danilina) looking almost secure. A title for one of those 6 pairs could change things though. It's slightly more complicated as there are some different pairings at the moment and these may not feature in the race - eg Siniakova is close behind, but already qualified with Townsend.
I agree. If they had won just a few more matches instead of that run of first round losses they would be much better placed. As it stands I would think that at best they might make the alternates spot.
