A bit surprising when she'd recorded a clip confirming her participation for social media, even today the tournament was using her pic to sell tickets.

Interesting. I was already thinking, fit and well, Wrexham did seem the obvious choice again. So maybe she isn't fit and well.

She's still entered for Birmingham so it doesn't suggest its injury related. She is of course managed by Octagon and Octagon have the license for the majority of Asian WTA events, in particular Ningbo and Tokyo, so a WC over there does seem the most likely explanation and was my immediate thought when I saw she had withdrawn yesterday morning.

Wherever Mika  plays she has a lot of points to defend in  the next couple of weeks. Why promote a tournament  in this country when you are not going to play there unless injury is an issue. British players at Wrexham seem to be few as rankings are too low.

Well the defending champion is playing in a W75 in Canada having elected for the US college route. However may need to come through qualifying so Wrexham might have been a better bet, although not practical.

 Wrexham are known for it.

They did it last year promoting GB players that didnt compete - i need to dig out the programme, but i suspect Heather & Sonay...

Wrexham - looks like 5 in qualifying direct. So 4 will be bumped up and then we will see who else appears or gets QWC.
Jodie will be a candidate for a wildcard.
