end of week 2 of 5 and this is the current months nominations list as we stand.
Halfway through the month now, mid way through week 3 of 5. Remember, anyone can nominate at any time; no need to wait on others or until the end of the month. No rules!

4: Sonay Kartal - for making round three of consecutive WTA 1000 tournaments. Hopefully the start of a good few weeks for Sonay in her quest to return to the top 100.
Thank you Jones! I guessed someone would go for Sonay at some point. I see she is just started on court now in that third round, let's hope she is able to go even further this week and subsequent weeks!

Sonay's win just now probably makes this look outdated already and some of her wins eg WR 12 have been worth calling out (that was her second best win by ranking). So it may well be worth updating this narrative and padding it out a little come the end of the week! Anyone can do that, PoM is a communal activity, or Jones can add to it if they wish, at any point (but suggest end of the week is best?) Good stuff!

I think Jones or someone should be checking the pen has ink left in it for a little narrative upgrade later this weekend!

And now with huge wins over Kalinina, Bencic , Paolini Svitolina and Ostapenko she has reached the Wuhan final and is comfortably inside the top 100. In fact shes in the top 50 ! Her performance in outlasting world no 6 Svitolina ( who is enjoying her best ever year ) was especially impressive And she followed it up with a really gutsy 2 close tiebreak straight sets win over Ostapenko. In beating Paolini, Svitolina and Ostapenko she has out fought 3 of the biggest fighters there are.

Updated Jon ! Hopefully it needs further updating this weekend . I didnt want to touch what Jones originally wrote but it probably still needs a bit of editing !
