Our first men's singles of the week: 

Final:  (7) Max Basing WR 259 defeated Jay Friend (JPN) WR 312 by 6-3 1-6 6-0

I think that that's Max's first Challenger title.

What a week for Max! Real breakthrough for him, especially as he's had a bit of meh summer since his exploits in qualifying for Wimbledon.

Cover the points he had coming off for winning a 25K in Indonesia this time last year, and now up to 219 in the live rankings. If he were able to maintain that till Dec, it would guarantee him an Aussie Open qualies spot.

Should be very doable as he only has 28 points coming off between now and the end of the season.

Will be interesting to see where he goes next as he's not on any entry lists over the next 3 weeks.

Yes, super by Max. Being pernickety, with these M25 title points coming off a week later they are not allowed for in the live 219 ranking, so 53 points in total still to come off. Clearly though Aus Open Q is indeed very doable.

On the ITF site, Max is still showing as the leading entry for this coming week's Portugal M25.
