I think Tatsiana lack of ranking isn't the true picture. She has a CH of WR1273 from 2019 (she's 24), but raeched the SF of a W15 from qualifying last week.
She didn't compete at all for almost three years from November 2023 until last week. Before that she was at Old Dominion, where she partnered Sofia Johnson in doubles.

Sorry but that's pretty weak
No pro tennis for three years, was unranked as a junior, a good college career but that's a while back now (she went to Texas after Old Dom), a negligble CH, and one W15 SF?
Yes, her lack of ranking might be misleading - she should really be WR 1100, say - or even W900, if you want
But unless she's been winning UTR events left right and centre, you couldn't re-rank her any higher than that and dodrade is making a pertinent point

Perhaps I should have said a bit more. Yes, dodrade has a valid point and I hope it was just a bad day for Jodie.
As for the W15 SF last week (and first pro-tournament for three years), Tatsiana beat Pericard WR925 and Mettraux WR534=CH on the way, so not a complete rookie. Which is what I was getting at.
We'll see how Jodie gets on today against Chan, who has a genuine ranking of 745, but was well beaten by Sofia last week.

Sorry TA, she beat WRs 925 and 534 on the way ( most certainly not a complete rookie but still ... ) I guess it was already evident that Jodie wasn't in the BJK Cup for her singles but as a possible doubles partner for Harriet. And she's a nice enthusiastic girl ... ( who I actually genuinely like but the BJK Cup squad looks a nonsense ).

But then it begs the question, if you're picking a doubles partner for Harriet why aren't you picking Maia?
The selectors know best what they are doing. No Emma or Sonay does not help nor does Mika who is on a long losing run.
Sorry, but that's like saying Trump knows best what's good for America - some people will think he does, of course, but sammmmm is right and it's perfectly fine to say just because someone is in charge, it doesn't mean that one can't query their decisions
