Thanks for sharing - great to see so many involved.

Pleased to see Marcus and Heather together but not so pleased that they have to play Hsieh Su-wei as she is such a great doubles player.

I would have bet on Hev and Marcus going deep, but unfortunately their first round will be really really tricky- Su-wei is very talented at doubles - I don't know her partner or if they have played together before. Are Marcus and and Heather a new pair ? - I don't know but I am sure they will gel perfectly.

Jan is Luke Johnson (a Brit) current partner in men's doubles.

Jan has won 2 mixed doubles titles, one at Wimbledon, with Su-wei (2024). The other was AO, also in 2024.

Ah, thanks for that info - just as well  an 'outright'   bid was not available  when I looked for mixed dubs otherwise I might have splashed  for 'each way' -   yes, really, thank you .

Katie missed a put away smash on the first point and Peers missed one a few points later and as you say it was too much to recover from at 1-6

That's a really disappointing one, our top doubles players losing first round

Dabrowski hit a load of unreturnable shots.

Yes - but she shouldn't have had balls that she could hits those shots off of

It's true it's only mixed dubs, but if our top doubles woman, and ex-Wimbledon doubles champion and #1 player in the world, can't win a R1 dubs match it's pretty sad

The counter-balance to the Patten/Nicholls loss:

L32:  (WC) Heather Watson & Marcus Willis CR 447 (383+64) defeated Hsieh Su-wei & Jan Zielinski (TPE/POL) CR 37 (9+28) by 3-6 6-3 6-4  ban-woohoo.gif

That was fun!
