R1: Emma Raducanu (GBR) WR37 (CH=10) v Diane Parry (FRA) WC WR94 (CH=48)

They met in the BJK cup in 2024 with Emma winning a third set tie break.

The draw lists 4 WCs, not including Emma but it does include her opponent.

There are quite a few players in the draw that are lower ranked than Emma

Well, Diane is locked in what looks like quite a tight match in Paris - we'll have to see how fresh she is next week for Emma (although she got a walkover in her previous match here)

I'm epecting Diane Parry to withdraw - as per above, she's now supposed to be playing her final today - it's started but is now suspended..... If I were her, I'd probably quit Strasbourg

I believe all R1 matches have to be done by Tuesday so she'll definitely not be able to wait till Wednesday to play

But, yes, it's not far. It depends, however, on fitness. She won't risk anything.

ADD: Playing Emma might be a draw though - for many reasons biggrin biggrin biggrin

Parry and Emma are scheduled for the first match on court on Tuesday (tomorrow) on the Patrice Dominguez court

If Emma won R1 she had about as tough a path ahead as it could possibly get with probably the 5th seed, 3rd seed, 2nd seed and 1st seed lined up ahead. However the 5th seed has just dropped out and been replaced by a LL. So Emma now has a chance at least of getting to the QF if she plays well.

Diane has her left thigh heavily taped, presumably not helped after last week's exertions
