R1:- Sofia Johnson (GBR) WR930 [Q2] v Alexandra Vagramov (CAN) WR600

Vagramov is the girl that Esther beat in the final of the W15 in Victoriaville recently.

Ella was a late withdrawal on Sunday - college comes first !

Yes, it was a slightly strange match

Sofia had the upper hand in the first set but each time she got the break, she kept playing a bit tentatively, a bit short, and paid the price. She got her head in gear in the second set, and had a bit more intent on the ball. Which worked.

I only watched the second half of first set - it wasn't very convincing to me, so glad she got going in the rest of the match.

Similar momentum match today, as yesterday.

Which is all to the good - as Sofia won 5-7 6-1 6-2
