That's a real shame, but probably a result of the qualifier having got used to the courts already. (not that he shouldn't have won)

That's a disappointing loss for Tom, that guy was ranked over 100 places lower and had never been ranked inside the top 900.

Tom has just sneaked into the entry list for Thailand F2 next week so hopefully he'll do better in singles there.

It's quite tough for the lower ranked Brits at this time of the year as the grass court events are so strong that they don't stand any chance of qualifying and in Europe all the tournaments are on clay. They have to travel far and wide to find a hard-court futures.

Better news is that Tom and Nikki Peel have reached the doubles semis. They got a bit lucky in rd1 where they were 5-2 down in the 1st set to the 3rd seeds when one of their opponents sustained an injury and had to retire !
