The 2026 season kicks off tomorrow with Alfie and Gordon playing in the Brisbane mens event at the new
500 level.

Womens action is in Sydney this week but no British involvement. The quad action starts next week in Melbourne.

Jet lag has got me, haha. Wide awake.

Anyway, interesting how some sites wont load here for some reason. Im sure its fine in the UK, but the ITF website wont work at all. A couple of others consistently wont load but they seem to be financial ones. No idea why ITF is affected.

If it is accessible in the UK, be interested if someone could check the tournie link in the post above and see how Alfie and Gordon have got on in their opening event so far (and post the outcomes!)

Link working fine here.

Alfie beat Gordon 6-2 retired in the singles SF.

Final: (1) Alfie Hewett vs (2) Martin De la Puente (ESP)

Alfie & Gordon have given a walkover in the doubles final.

So clearly Gordon must have an issue

Thanks Indy - thats a shame re Gordon and doesnt bode well for their title defence in the AO. Let me know how Alfie does in the final!

Its the Victorian Open this week, another 500 event and taking place across mens, womens and quad.

In womens and quad, Lucy Shuker and Greg Slade lost early, Greg surprisingly as he was seeded two, to Australian up and coming star Wenzel.

In mens, however, Gordon Reid bounced back from last weeks injury and is into the semis where he plays Japanese Miki, who upset de la Puente, in the last 8.

Gordon won again and is onto the final where he plays Gustavo Fernandez - great to see any injury last week is past and he looks strong for the AO.

Next week is the Melbourne Open which is a 1000 level event, similar status to the Masters 1000 level on ATP/WTA. AO wheelchair takes place in week 2 of the main AO.

Oh yes, sadly he lost in 3 sets. 4-6 6-3 1-6. Good that he got himself back to the final after retiring the week before and hopefully it bodes well for himself and Alfie being challengers in the doubles.

Great results in Melbourne today in the 1000 level event.

Quads - Greg Slade won in straight sets
Womens - Ruby Bishop joined the draw and won her opener as did Lucy Shuker (wr 15) who caused a mild upset over Tanaka, wr 12
Mens - Ben Bartram (wr 17) caused an upset over WR 11, Ji of China. Ben had a losing record against Ji and this was a really big surprise.

Excellent start for the Brits in this final pre AO event.

In the big Melbourne 1000 event, good results overnight:

Quad - Greg Slade upset Kaplan of Turkey to move into the last 8; Andy Lapthorne joins him there.

Doubles - we have a full house of Alfie/Gordon, Ben, Lucy, Ruby, Andy and Greg into their respective doubles last 8s.

Alfie, Gordon, Ben, Lucy and Ruby are also still in singles at the last 16 stage.
